A guided path to establishing your practice in France

Moving your practice to a new country is rarely one decision. It’s dozens — where to live, who to show your work to, how to explain who you are as an artist in a language and a market that don’t yet know you, and how to navigate the administrative path that makes staying possible.

Take Root is Silver Linings Arts’ answer to the first part of that: we help artists arrive, position themselves, and connect — with clarity about what we do, and what we hand to specialists.

What we do

This is SLA’s own expertise, and the paid core of this service:

  • Residency matching — including SLA’s own two residencies, The Silent Awakening (Chantilly) and Silent Continuities (Mont-Saint-Michel), plus guidance toward France’s wider residency landscape
  • Curatorial positioning — portfolio, artist statement, personal website, and artistic identity, built or refined for a French and international audience
  • Introductions — to galleries, museums, schools, and workshops within the SLA network
  • Translation — available as a separate paid add-on

Handled by Specialists

Silver Linings Arts is not a law firm and does not manage visa or residence-permit procedures.

That work is carried out by our partner immigration lawyer, to whom we introduce qualified applicants. SLA’s paid role stops at the artistic file — everything relating to civil status, financial documentation, or the residence procedure itself is between the applicant and their lawyer.

How It Works

Step 1

Apply

Preliminary qualification application (paid — see Fee below).

Step 2

Review

SLA reviews the application; validated applicants are contacted directly for a custom-scoped engagement.

Step 3

Connect

If relevant, SLA introduces the applicant to its partner lawyer for the residence procedure.

Applications that are not validated receive an honest response and are not charged further.
Silver Linings Arts works from what an artist already has — we build on real practice, we do not manufacture one.
