20,000 leagues under the sea

The Théâtre de la Porte Saint-Martin offers an adaptation of the work of Jules Verne, featuring the famous characters from the novel. Professor Aronnax and his servant Conseil, accompanied by the harpooner Ned Land, had taken to the sea to hunt down a giant narwhal before being shipwrecked and becoming the captives of the mysterious Captain Nemo. He, a true modern-day pirate, then takes them, despite themselves, on a journey around the world across the oceans, where science mixes with the poetry of the depths. On stage, the actors, accompanied by a troupe of fish, transport us to the heart of this literary monument. As a reward for its remarkable visual creation, the play was honored with the 2016 Molière and the 2016 Critics’ Prize for best creator of scenic elements.
